SINGAL-USER OPERATING SYSTEM:-

  • It is an operating system in which the user can manage one ting data a time.
  • Example:- MS-DOS.
  • It is simple.
  • This type of operating system is used for a single user.
  • In this, sometimes CPU is utilized to its maximum.
  • It supports the standalone system.
  • CPU sits ideal most of the time.
  • Overall system performance is low.
  • It is more secured.
  • The sharing of data is not possible.

MULTI-USER OPERATING SYSTEM:-

  • It is an associate in Nursing OS within which multiple users will manage multiple resources at a time.Example:- Linux, Unix, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, etc.
  • It is complex.
  • This type of OS is employed for multiple users.
  • It doesn't support a standalone system.
  • Best utilization of CPU time, because of many user programs.
  • Overall system performance is high.
  • It is less secure than the single-user operating system.
  • The sharing of data is very easy.
  • this operating system is used in mainframe computers.
  • There are two types of the multi-user operating system:-
