DATABASE
  • The database is a collection of related information stored. So that it's offered to several users for various functions.
  • The content of information is obtained by combing data from all the different sources in an organization.
  • Database plays a critical role in almost all areas where computers are used, including business, law, engineering, medicine, education, library, science, etc.
OR 
  • When the related information is placed in an organized form it makes a database. This organization is very important because unorganized information has no meaning.
  • FOR EXAMPLE -telephone directory is organized information where the names are arranged in alphabetic order.
Information is also generated and maintained manually or it's going to be processed. For example:- library card list is a good example of this, which can be automated as well. In a manual system, a database is stored on paper, and on a computer, it is on secondary storage devices.
