DIFFERENT BETWEEN DATA AND INFORMATION

Data and the information both are different concepts on the computer side.

DATA

• Data is a collection of raw facts.
• For example:- length, breadth, the height of the room, or the cube is the data.
• Data itself has no meaning.
• Data does not help in making a decision.
• Data can be taken as input.

• Data is always/generally in disorganized form.
• Data does not depend upon the information.
• Data cannot be divisible. For example- day, month, and year.
• Data can be defined as a representation of facts, concepts, or instruction in a formalized manner or electronic machine.

INFORMATION

• Information is a processed form of data.
• For example:- the volume of the room is the information which can be derived from the data by using the formula:

VOLUME = LENGTH * BREADTH * HEIGHT

• Information is always meaningful.
• The information helps in making a decision.
• Information can be taken as an output.

• Information is properly arranged and organized form.
• Information always depends upon data.
• Information can be divisible for example- Date_Of_Birth.
• Information is organized or classified data so, that it has some meaningful value to the user.
